Castaway is a truly unique stamp pad that alters the colour of the paper instead of adding colour to the surface! The result is a marbled
or dappled antique look that is similar to batik fabric. Every paper is different.
Stamp image onto coloured paper. Let image absorb into paper for about 5 minutes. Use dry iron at cotton setting to heat the image. The ironing will
activate the colour altering process. Works on most papers but not on coated stock, or pigment coloured paper such
as laminated mat board.
Gives similar results to bleaching techniques.
Some Castaway Stamping
Here's some samples of stamping done with the Castaway Pad. I had good results on Bazzill cardstock & some less
expensive cardstock. It didn't work on Basic Grey or Wild Asparagus cardstock weight paper. I also tried it on K & Company
patterned paper and got nothing. But when it works I love the results!!
I don't have an iron dedicated to crafting (I'll have to get one!!) so I used my heat gun. You have to be careful not to 'burn' the
paper and stamped area but sometimes I like the results when it burns! The heart on black is a brown color - don't know if that's overheating
or just the color it went but I like it. It doesn't always turn white. The Peace flake is a lighter blue. And the Snowflake Tile turned
red, then pink, then white. I left a little pink & on another stamp or background color may have liked to leave it burgundy or a mix
of colors (I was going for white on blue with this one!)
It doesn't work well with fine detail stamps. My best results were with stamps that had larger stamped areas.
I like the Castaway pad although results are certainly not guaranteed.
