Million Dollar Altered Book
Designed by Nicola Manning
Materials:
Instructions:
- Remove cover from book and peel paper off, exposing the board beneath. It is ok if you can’t get it all off, it will just add another layer to your art. You can see the bit of green in mine where I didn't get all the paper off.
- If some of the paper is still attached, sand with sandpaper to take the shine off
- Take lid off red pepper paint dabber and with a paintbrush paint your bubble wrap and stamp your board. Let dry. Clean paintbrush.
- Paint one side of the domino with espresso and using as a stamp, randomly stamp. Wipe excess paint off brush but do not clean. Now repeat with red pepper paint and randomly stamp over the board.
- With Ultimate glue, adhere domino to the top of your piece. Let dry.
- With red chalk, wipe over the entire piece and then smudge with your finger to fill in all the blank space of your background.
- With a pencil or charcoal go around the edges.
- With gel medium, adhere the hands from collage sheet and then a small piece of money to the domino.
- Cut a strip from the ruler paper and with gel medium adhere to the left side and bottom.
- With pencil outline the image of the hand.
- Brush gel medium over the entire piece to seal. Use a light hand when doing this as the chalk and pencil will smudge. This is the effect we want but do it gently.
- Let dry completely.
- With black crayon write your text. Go over black text with white pen or paint. Outline the money on the domino with red glitter glue.
