Scrapbooking Calendar - April
......
Materials:
Instructions:
- Take the 12 x 12" Grape Diamond Dust cardstock and cut it down to an 8.5 x 11" page.
-Cut a rectangle approximately 4 7/8" x 2 3/8" out of your pink cardstock. Out of the remaining grape cardstock cut a rectangle 2 3/4" x 4 1/4". Cut a triangle off each corner of the pink rectangle with a bottom length of about 3/4" and one off each of the grape rectangle's corners with a bottom length of about 1/2".
-Center the grape cardstock shape on top of the pink one and attach together.
-Put your vellum paper (you may have to cut it down to an 8.5 x 11" page if it's a 12 x 12" piece of paper) in the printer and print your favorite easter phrase on it, in a font you feel matches the page. *Make sure you test that the size of the phrase you are printing fits the middle of the grape cardstock shape how you want it to, by first printing on a scrap piece of paper and seeing how it looks on the cardstock. I chose Curlz MT font and wrote, "Happy Easter!!!".
-Now attach the vellum to the center of the grape cardstock, which is attached to the pink. I suggest using sailor rolling ball glue pen for vellum and try to put the dots of glue behind the letters, so it shows as little as possible.
-Position your pink and grape banner on the top left corner of the grape cardstock page, so that it is slightly diagonal across the corner as shown in the picture above.
-Put a lilac butterfly eyelet on the top two corners of the grape cardstock on the banner and three across the bottom. See the eyelet page for instructions to use eyelets.
-Take your blue, green and yellow cardstock and cut an egg shape out of them. You can cut one and trace the other two from it it you would like them to be the same size.
- Take the gold, silver, purple and medium blue artistic wire and use the sharp end of a pencil to twist it around about 4 or 5 times (not too close together). Then leave about 1/2" of wire after the twist and cut. Push the twist down, so that it is more flat.
-Once you have finished 4 twists stick the 1/2" of wire after the twists through the green egg where you would like the twists to sit. Then fold the wire over on the back of the egg and tape, so the twist will not move. Then take the 4 round eyelets and put them on the same egg randomly, where they look good.
-Cut 2 thin stripes from the green, yellow, and pink cardstock. Glue them randomly across the blue egg. If you would like you could put them straight, but I put them in all different directions across.
-Take a fibre from the Snow Cone Sew Sweet Strings and tape the end of it to the yellow egg close to the bottom on the side. Then bring it around the other side of the egg and across. Wrap it around the egg so it forms a "z" like shape on the front of the egg.
-Take 6 of the round jewels from the Sew Sweet Strings package amd place them randomly on the egg. I suggest using mini glue dots to do this.
-Take the Shotz photograph and attach it horizantally at the bottom of the grape cardstock, so that no purple is showing on the bottom. Cut the excess piece off all in one chunk, not a little from both sides.
-Once you are finished all the eggs take them and position them under the banner, but above the shotz, so that they look like they could be hanging from the 3 butterfly eyelets and attach them to the cardstock with desired adhesive.
-Take the light pink wire and stick the end through the top of the egg on the left about 1/2". Fold the wire over on the back and tape it. Then bring the wire up through the front of the eyelet on th bottom left of the banner going through about 1/2", fold it over and tape.
-Do this for all 3 eggs, except the middle egg goes through the middle eyelet and the right through the right.
-Put the light pink wire through the front of the eyelet on the top left, going through about 1/2" and tape on the back. Then bring it up over the side of the cardstock keeping it parallel to the side of the banner. Leave about a 1/2" at the end, cut, then fold it over the back and tape. Do the same for the eyelet on the top right. This will make it look like the banner is hanging.
-Now go to the fourth month of the date pad area.
-Take the April sticker off the Susan Branch 'Months' Sticker Sheet and stick it slightly diagonally, "A" at the bottom "L" at the top, on the left side of the title area of the date pad.
-Take what's left of the shotz photograph and cut it into a 1 15/16" x whatever is left in width. Attach it 7/8" away from the right edge of the black line.
-Stick two small flowers from the Mary Engelbreit 'Floral' 4 x 6.5" sticker sheet on the right side of the shotz and one on the left under the April sticker. Then stick one above the April sticker.
-Take five medium size stickers and stick one in each of the first Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wendnesday and the last Saturday square. These days are blank for 2004.
-Starting with Thursday label the squares from 1 to 30 (for 2004) in the top right corner with a purple Memories Metellic Marker.
-Take a Hershey's Kiss from the Hershey's Kisses sticker sheet and stick the sticker on the 11th date square for Easter Sunday.
-Congratulations! You have completed April.
There is an endless variety of pages you can make this way by using different 12 x 12" diamond dust cardstock papers, cardstock papers and shotz photographs. Of course you can also add other stickers or embellishments to match all the different colors of cardstock and shotz. You can substitute a picture for the shotz or the eggs or you could put a picture in the middle of the eggs instead of decorating them. You could use more or less eyelets in different spots on the page. You could arrange the eggs and the banner in different spots. There are sooo many different things you can do, so be creative and have fun!
