Coloring Brads
Sometimes it's hard to get embellishments that match your project. Brads & other metal embellishments can be colored many ways. Here's four I've had good luck with.
Materials:
- Metal Brads
- Tweezers, needle nosed plyers or wooden clothes pins!
- Embossing Powder & heat gun
- Ink pad that works on metal surfaces
- Alcohol Inks & felt
- Stickles Glitter Glue
- Posh Accents Pen
The hardest thing about coloring brads is holding on to them!! I've had good luck with needle nosed plyers. You can also use tweezers (make sure they have heat proof handles if you are using the heat gun!!) and you can also use wooden clothes pins.
Instructions:

Ink brad with permanent ink. I used gold Brilliance here. Stazon will also work. So will permanent markers.
Heat the brad with your heat gun.

Dip it into the embossing powder (no need to use embossing ink)

Heat & melt the embossing powder. You can repeat if you'd like a thicker layer on the brad. Or try using 2 colors - one on each side - or 1 on the first layer & just partial on the 2nd.

Put a drop of alcohol ink on a piece of felt or your alcohol ink applicator.

Color brad by rubbing on alcohol ink.

Cover brad with stickles. Create something really unique by using more than 1 color.

Color your brad with a posh accent pen - we have them in gold, silver & copper.

All the brads I made ;-)
